Unflinching Faith in Words of Guru is Essential

If we are to be successful on the path of self realization, it is absolutely essential that we must be guided by a bona fide spiritual master. Just as a ship cannot cross the ocean without a rudder, similarly we cannot cross over the ocean of birth and death unless we are guided by a bona fide spiritual master. Since this material world is so full of charlatans, we must therefore be very, very cautious before accepting someone as our spiritual master. We must make sure that the prospective guru is purely conveying the teachings of Krishna as they been handed down through the guru parampara system. In other words, we should never accept a mental speculator as our spiritual master. We should only accept as our spiritual master someone who has unflinching faith in the words of his spiritual master. This is the bona fide spiritual master, the person who can save us from the repetition of birth and death. The guru is supposed to be an acharya, one who teaches perfectly by his example. If the guru does not have faith in the words of his guru, he is teaching us by his example not to have faith in his own words. This is why we must find that guru who has unflinching faith in the words of his guru.

Man is the architect of his own destiny. You can choose whether you want to stay in the cycle of birth and death or whether you want to go back to your original home in the spiritual world. If you choose to go back there, you must place yourself under the guidance of Lord Sri Krishna as He speaks in the Bhagavad-gita, and as per His instructions you also must place yourself under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
