Truth Always Ultimately Defeats Untruth

While a small amount of light can illuminate a very large area of darkness, no amount of darkness can destroy even a small amount of light. In a similar way truth always wins in the end over untruth, although temporarily it make appear that untruth holds sway over truth. Therefore we should always stick to the truth even if is unpopular, as it often is in this Kali Yuga.

Question: Why Do I Have to Chant?

Why do I have to chant? What is the reason for chanting? Why do you give so much emphasis on chanting? I know that by not chanting I have become a materialistic person. However still I want to know the reason. I know Srila Prabhupada has said that chanting is a conversation with God. But how? I also want to know why the disciples of Srila Prabhupada sometimes fall down from Krishna consciousness?

Answer: Chanting is the Yuga Dharma

The reason that chanting is so much emphasized is that chanting is the yuga dharma, the duty prescribed by the Lord for this age, because in this age there is no other means of our becoming delivered This is confirmed as follows in the Brihan Naradiya Purana 38.126:

harer nāma harer nāma
harer nāmaiva kevalam
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva
nāsty eva gatir anyathā

"In this Age of Kali there is no other means, no other means, no other means for self-realization than chanting the holy name, chanting the holy name, chanting the holy name of Lord Hari."

When we chant Hare Krishna we are requesting the Lord and His divine energy that they kindly engage us in their service. This chanting is so essential that even advanced devotees will fall down if they stop chanting Hare Krishna. If we do not learn how to derive pleasure from chanting the Lord's holy names, we will instead try to derive pleasure from material sense gratification.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
