Leaders Helpless as Drought Devastates USA

On 13 July 2012 CNN reported on its website: "Authorities have declared more than 1,000 counties as natural disaster areas as the worst drought in a quarter-century spreads across the United States this summer."

The leaders are helpless to end the drought. They do not realize that drought is natural when the citizens do not engage in sankirtan yajna, the congregational chanting of the holy names of God. If they would just take our advice and organize massive daily sankirtan in every town and village, the drought will quickly come to an end. But because they do not take our advice the population suffers.

Question: Is there Faith in the Three Modes?

I have a question. Is faith in three modes? I mean is there faith in the mode of goodness, faith in the mode of passion, and faith in the mode of ignorance?

Answer: Perfect Faith is Beyond the Three Modes

Krishna clearly describes the three kinds of faith in Bhagavad-gita 17.4:

"Men in the mode of goodness worship the demigods; those in the mode of passion worship the demons; and those in the mode of ignorance worship ghosts and spirits."

In this connection Srila Prabhupada gives the example of a man in Calcutta who during World War II worshipped Adolph Hitler because thanks to the war he had been able to amass a great deal of wealth by dealing in the black market. Also in this connection I personally met a gentleman in Bangalore, India who did puja to the cartoon character Dennis the Menace. So there are definitely different kinds of faith practiced for different purposes. In conclusion, those who are actually wise repose all of their faith in the process of completely surrendering themselves at the lotus feet of the Lord. This is the perfection of faith. Such faith is in pure goodness beyond the material modes of goodness, passion, and ignorance.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
