Serve the Spiritual Master with Love

Thought for Day--17 April 2026

In the purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, 11th Canto, Chapter 3, Text 22 we find the secret of how one can be successful in his spiritual life:

According to Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, one should never consider one's spiritual master to be mundane or on an equal level with one's self. One should see the spiritual master as being always under the shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord. One should never try to engage the spiritual master in one's personal service with the mentality of lording it over the spiritual master and attaining through him some material gain. One who is actually advancing will become more and more eager to serve the spiritual master, and thus such a disciple experiences the pleasure of the Supreme Personality of Godhead...

A bona fide Vaiṣṇava should work earnestly to free himself from any tinge of sense gratification and mental speculation, and with a loving heart he should carry out the orders of his bona fide spiritual master. By always remembering the exalted position of the bona fide spiritual master, the disciple will achieve shelter at the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa.

If one neglects this, his spiritual life will be hampered. And if one follows it, his going back home, back to Godhead is assured.

My mind does not want to surrender to Kṛṣṇa. Even after going through so many difficult troubles, it remains stubborn and tries to enjoy independently, seeking the ultimate solution outside the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa. How can I make it surrender to Kṛṣṇa?

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
