Did Life From Matter?

There is a popular theory that conscious living beings have their origin in non-conscious, dead matter, primordial soup--that from somehow, by a random combination of material elements, conscious life has emerged. But when we ask scientists to demonstrate this in the laboratory, they admit that although science has not advanced enough to do so now, they say that it will be possible in the future. They want us to trust them and give them the Nobel Prize for their advanced scientific knowledge.

In this regard we can ask them a simple question: If you were selling your house for $850,000 and someone offered you a postdated check for $850,000 dated five years in the future, would you hand over the keys and let them take ownership today?

Thus, we are not so foolish as to accept the scientists’ "postdated check." Instead, we accept the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-gītā, which teaches ua that the Supreme Conscious Being, Lord Śrī Krishna, is the original source of all conscious living beings, who eternally emanate from Him. By applying the teachings of Lord Krishna in our practical lives we experience every day how effective they are. They are so powerful that we can be fearless. For a Krishna conscious devotee even death is "a piece of cake." The scientists are afraid of death, but the devotees are not. So who is better situated?

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
