Conquer the Lower by the Higher Self
Lord Sri Krishna very kindly reveals to us in Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 3, Text 43:
evaṁ buddheḥ paraṁ buddhvā
saṁstabhyātmānam ātmanā
jahi śatruṁ mahā-bāho
kāma-rūpaṁ durāsadam
TRANSLATION
Thus knowing oneself to be transcendental to material senses, mind and intelligence, one should control the lower self by the higher self and thus-by spiritual strength-conquer this insatiable enemy known as lust.
And Srila Prabhupada gives this wonderful explanation:
PURPORT
This Third Chapter of the Bhagavad-gītā is conclusively directive to Kṛṣṇa consciousness by knowing oneself as the eternal servitor of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, without considering impersonal voidness as the ultimate end. In the material existence of life, one is certainly influenced by propensities for lust and desire for dominating the resources of material nature. Desire for overlording and sense gratification are the greatest enemies of the conditioned soul; but by the strength of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one can control the material senses, the mind and the intelligence. One may not give up work and prescribed duties all of a sudden; but by gradually developing Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one can be situated in a transcendental position without being influenced by the material senses and the mind-by steady intelligence directed toward one's pure identity. This is the sum total of this chapter. In the immature stage of material existence, philosophical speculations and artificial attempts to control the senses by the so-called practice of yogic postures can never help a man toward spiritual life. He must be trained in Kṛṣṇa consciousness by higher intelligence.

If we take this guidance seriously our lives will be unlimitedly sublime. So are we going to get serious about doing this or not? That question remains.

Kindly accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Your Grace and Srimati Gurumata, and All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Srila Gurudeva, the following is a section from last paragraph of Chapter 14, Teachings of Queen Kunti:
"So our concern should be simply to love Kṛṣṇa. The more we love Kṛṣṇa, the more we shall become perfect. It is not necessary to understand Kṛṣṇa and how He creates. Kṛṣṇa explains Himself in Bhagavad-gītā, and we should not try to understand much more. We should not bother very much to know Kṛṣṇa. That is not possible. We should simply increase our unalloyed love for Kṛṣṇa. That is the perfection of life."
Kindly enlighten on the meaning of this section. Is loving Lord Krishna independent of knowing Him?
How to understand that "We should simply increase our unalloyed love for Kṛṣṇa"?
Begging your blessings,
Your eternal servant,
Bhadra devi dasi
My Dear Badra,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
The more you know Him, the more you will love Him. And the more you love Him, the more He will reveal everything about Himself to you. So knowing Him and loving Him are interconnected.
In this connection Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita Chapter 7, Text 1:
mayy āsakta-manāḥ pārtha
yogaṁ yuñjan mad-āśrayaḥ
asaṁśayaṁ samagraṁ māṁ
yathā jñāsyasi tac chṛṇu
"Now hear, O son of Pṛthā, how by practicing yoga in full consciousness of Me, with mind attached to Me, you can know Me in full, free from doubt."
That yoga is the yoga described in the last verse of Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 6, bhakti yoga, the yoga of loving devotional service to Krishna.
I hope this meets you in the best of health.
