Sankarshan Das Interviewed by Bill Ballenger on the Political Insider Broadcast
About Bill Ballenger
Bill Ballenger was the founder of Inside Michigan Politics, a state-based biweekly subscription newsletter that he launched in 1987 and published for 27 years. He was also, for six years, a horse racing columnist for The Detroit Free Press. For a dozen years (1992-2004), he hosted a weekly hour-long, call-in program on political issues on WKAR, a public radio station on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
Now that Bill is no longer associated with Inside Michigan Politics, he offers The Ballenger Report and the Friday Morning Podcast as something different than Inside Michigan Politics or any other news service. The Ballenger Report will offer unique articles, archived podcasts and live radio programs from the Michigan Talk Network of a political nature that you cannot find anywhere else.
“The Ballenger Report” will present what you would expect from Bill Ballenger — forecasts of national, state, and local races, including judicial contests. Ballenger was dubbed by the late Charlie Cain, onetime state capital bureau chief of The Detroit News, as “Michigan’s undisputed Crown Prince of Pundits.” He is a frequent commentator on Michigan politics and government for a broad array of newspapers and radio and television stations nationally and internationally, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Roll Call, USA TODAY, HOTLINE, the Associated Press, CNN, National Public Radio, PBS’s “The News Hour,” the BBC, and Michigan Public Television’s “Off the Record.”
Ballenger was born William S. Ballenger, III, in Flint, Michigan. He is a former state representative (1969-70) and state senator (1971-74), an ex-state racing commissioner (1982-85), and director of the state Dept. of Licensing & Regulation (1977-81). He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Health, Education & Welfare in the administration of President Gerald R. Ford (1975-76).
Ballenger holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has been a visiting adjunct professor at the University of Michigan/Flint; in both Lyman Briggs and Justin Morrill Colleges at Michigan State University; and in the Public Administration program of Western Michigan University. From 2003-2007, he was the Robert P. and Marjorie Griffin Professor of American Government at Central Michigan University.
On the morning of Friday 24 July 2020 I was interviewed by a key political personality from Michigan, Bill Ballenger. For an older person who has been totally engrossed in politics for his whole life he was surprisingly quite open to the philosophy of Krishna consciousness. You can hear the interview by clicking on the link below. Note that my interview begins after ten minutes of mundane politics. When the window of the broadcast comes up click the progress bar at the ten minutes spot. In this you can skip over the ten minutes of mundane politics.

Answers According to the Vedic Wisdom
Question: Is Spirit a Fairytale?
What do I do if I have been brainwashed by science to accept that our entire existence is purely physical? Is there still any spiritual power to meditation/enlightenment/NDEs, or does it really all end at death with "spirit" being just a fairy tale?Anonymous
Answer: Material Identity is a Fairytale
At the present moment your actual self, which is there sleeping within you, is currently turned off. This is causing you to misidentify yourself with your physical body, which is nothing more than a garment that your actual eternal spiritual self is wearing at the present moment. There is a practical system, the science of self-realization, by which you can now turn on your eternal spiritual identity, You begin this self-realization system by chanting the holy names of God on a regularly daily basis according to your religion and giving up sinful activities like meat eating, intoxication, illicit sex, and gambling. If you don’t have any particular religious tradition, I recommend that you should start chanting the Hare Krishna mantra every morning on a regular daily basis. It goes like this:
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
In this way you will revive your original enlightened consciousness and be swimming in an ocean of transcendental bliss for all of eternity.
