Sri Krishna Janmastami, the appearance day of Lord Sri Krishna, is the perfection of auspiciousness. According to Srila Rupa Gosvami auspiciousness means welfare activities for the greatest benefit for all the people of the world. Therefore Lord Sri Krishna has bestowed the topmost auspiciousness, the greatest of all good fortune, upon the fallen, conditioned souls of this world by His divine appearance here. With great joy in their hearts Krishna's devotees very devotedly celebrate this day by fasting until midnight and attending a midnight arati, after which they break their fast, to celebrate the Lord's midnight appearance in the prison of the demoniac King Kamsa some 5,000 years ago.

The fools and rascals will always see ISKCON (the International Society for Krishna Consciousness) as a totalitarian sect because Krishna demands that everyone should fully surrender to Him. But those who are enlightened with transcendental knowledge know better. They realize that ISKCON is not a totalitarian sect because when one becomes awakened in pure love of God, Krishna becomes completely under the control of His devotee. The real totalitarian sect is this material existence because the three modes of material completely enslave us here birth after birth. The conclusion is that even though ISKCON is liberating the imprisoned souls of this material world from Mayadevi's totalitarian sect, the poor brainwashed souls of this material world will think that ISKCON is a totalitarian sect.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
