The Pure Devotee Comes and Then the Evil Has to End

I fondly remember many years ago back in 1972 when, under the expert guidance of His Holiness Vishnujana Swami, ISKCON had a traveling rock opera, which told the story of how a hippy named Ringer became a devotee of Krishna. I had the good fortune to be a part this preaching program, which was known as the Road Show. On 8 September 1972 at a big pubic auditorium known as the Syria Mosque in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, USA we performed our rock opera in front of an audience of thousands. Our special guest of honor at the concert was our most beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who was pleased by our preaching attempt. After the program he commented, "This is Lord Caitanya's special mercy, this show." Part of our opera was a wonderful song called "Jagat Guru". One of lines of the song was, "The pure devotee comes and then the evil has to end. Jagat guru, spiritual master of the universe. Jagat guru, Prabhupada" This line brought me such great joy that it still resonates in my heart even now 43 years later.

This principle of the pure devotee saving the world is confirmed as follows in Srila Prabhupada's purport to Caitanya Caritamrita, Adi Lila 7.83 as follows:

"A sincere student aurally receives the holy name from the spiritual master, and after being initiated he follows the regulative principles given by the spiritual master. When the holy name is properly served in this way, automatically the spiritual nature of the holy name spreads; in other words, the devotee becomes qualified in offenselessly chanting the holy name. When one is completely fit to chant the holy name in this way, he is eligible to make disciples all over the world, and he actually becomes jagat guru. Then the entire world, under his influence, begins to chant the holy names of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra."

This is the power of the jagat guru. By his pure chanting he has the power to end all of the evil of the world by inspiring everyone to chant the Hare Krishna mahamantra.

Question: What Causes Stress and Depression?

Sometimes a devotee exceedingly faces stress and depression. Is this due to grace of guru and Krishna?

Thank you,
Hare Krishna,
Radha Ramana

Answer: Not Taking Advantage of Guru's and Krishna's Mercy

Actually it is just the opposite. When a devotee suffers anxiety this is due to his not taking advantage of the grace or mercy of guru and Krishna. One who always takes advantage of their merciful shelter will never be stressed out or depressed in any situation.
