The Only Solution for the Pollution

The air, water, and noise pollution that we are currently ever-increasingly plagued with here on planet earth are simply the manifestations of the even greater pollution that is there within us, the tons of psychological gook that is clouding up our minds. We keep thinking that we are the lords of all we survey when in fact we are simply the humble servants of God. As within, so without. Since our minds are so clogged up with lust, anger, greed, madness, illusion, and envy it is natural that the landscape before us is becoming more and more dreadful with each passing year. If we want to live in a clean external environment, we must first clean up the environment within. Otherwise all our attempts at cleaning up the external environment will be artificial and a complete, total waste of time and money. They will fall flat on their face in utter failure.

The successful program for cleaning up the environment begins by fixing our minds on God, which is most easily achieved by chanting His holy names regularly as much as possible. If the population in general can be trained in this art, their minds will become pure and the environment will naturally become pristine once again like it was back in the days when people were more God conscious.

Question: Does Chanting Have to Be Out Loud?

Is it okay to chant the Hare Krishna mantra in your mind or does it have to be out loud?

Kartik P.

Answer: Audible Chanting Required for Spiritual Perfection

Since we cannot fully absorb our minds silently every day in the Hare Krishna mantra for enough time or intensity to sufficiently purify our consciousness for escaping the cycle of birth and death, we need to chant it for at least 16 rounds audibly on our japa mala beads every day in order to get sufficient power to free our minds from the influence of the three modes of material nature and thus clear our pathway for spiritual perfection.
