Krishna Consciousness in the Muslim World

Now we are in Shah Alam, Malaysia in the Muslim world. Outside the window of our residence I see a restaurant which advertises itself as 100% Islam and also there is an Institute of Quranic sciences. Here in the Muslim world we can appreciate how much religion is emphasized in the daily lives of the people. Everywhere we see people expressing their religious faith even by the way they dress. This emphasis on religion is something which is lacking elsewhere in the world. It is on the basis that we can very much appreciate the Muslim countries.

However, here and everywhere else there is something sorely lacking, which is the conception of pure bhakti. Everywhere people of all religions are mixing sense gratification with devotion to God, and they say that their sect of religion is the only religion. They do not realize that religion cannot by its very nature be sectarian and that by sectarianizing it they are bastardizing it turning it into irreligion masquerading as religion. This is the great tragedy of religion in the world and one of the reasons why more and more people are rejecting religion.

Therefore we very much appreciate the pure bhakti taught by ISKCON Founder-Acharya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and are happy that we got the chance to be liberated from this hellish material world by the opportunity to join his most glorious Hare Krishna movement. And we sincerely hope that people all over the world will very soon realize the value of the Krishna consciousness movement and take full of advantage of Srila Prabhupada's teachings to become perfect in their practice of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, etc.

Question: Can I Surrender to Guru Without Loving Him?

Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances,
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

When I see other devotees full of love and sincere feelings for the spiritual master, I am thinking is it possible to surrender to the spiritual master without this love? Is it possible to become qualified for this love, or does it depend on mercy?

Answer: By Surrender You Will Awaken Your Love for Him

Even if you have no love for the spiritual master, you can surrender to him for the purpose of awakening your feelings of love for him. It is very important to love the spiritual master because to whatever extent we awaken our feelings of love for the spiritual master is the extent that our love for Krishna becomes awakened, and loving Krishna is the only purpose of our eternal existence. Without it we are worse that dead. By sincerely serving the spiritual master through full obedience to his instructions and the instructions of his representatives your pure love for him and for Lord Sri Krishna will be awakened, and your life will become perfect.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
