Satisfy Krishna by Satisfying the Spiritual Master

Success in spiritual life is based on pleasing Lord Krishna. And in order to please Krishna we must first please his representative, the bona fide spiritual master. Otherwise there is no question of spiritual advancement. This is confirmed as follows in mantra 8 of the Gurvastakam prayers:

yasya prasādād bhagavat-prasādo
yasyāprasādān na gatiḥ kuto 'pi
dhyāyan stuvaṁs tasya yaśas tri-sandhyaṁ
vande guroḥ śrī-caraṇāravindam

"By satisfaction of the spiritual master, the Supreme Personality of Godhead becomes satisfied. And by not satisfying the spiritual master, there is no chance of being promoted to the plane of Krishna consciousness. I should, therefore, meditate and pray for his mercy three times a day, and offer my respectful obeisances unto him, my spiritual master."

Therefore it is imperative that all those who are serious about becoming spiritually awakened should seek out and take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master and then please him by sincere service and inquiries.

Question: Fate and Free Will?

I daily read your messages. I want to know: What is the difference between fate and free will?
Alka

Answer: Fate Determined By How You Utilize Your Free Will

Your fate is determined by how you utilize your free will. If you misuse your free will and give up Krishna's service, you will be the slave of fate destined to rot perpetually in the cycle of birth and death. On the other hand, if you properly use your free will to serve Krishna, you will become the master of your fate destined to remain forever as a liberated soul in the wondrous spiritual sky.
