My Disciple, Lalita Devi Dasi, Leaves Her Body

25 September 2013--I got a telephone call early this morning from my disciple, Abhay Charan Das, who was bringing his sister Lalita Devi Dasi (who is also my disciple) to Vrindavan by train. This was her last wish as she was soon to die of cancer. Lalita's mother, father, husband, son, and daughter were also present. They were about two-and-a-half hours from their arrival at Mathura station. Lalita's breathing had become irregular and Abhay Charan sensing that her end was near called me in Vrindavan and asked me if they should disembark from the train. I instructed him that they should continue traveling to Vrindavan and do kirtan for her non-stop. The next call I got about an hour later was that she had left her body. Lalita peacefully left her body in a happy state of mind as seen in the picture below by the serene smile on her face. When they arrived in Vrindavan immediate arrangements were made for her cremation on the bank of the sacred Yamuna river. Many devotees attended the cremation and blessed it with Hare Krishna kirtan. I prayed to Krishna that my disciple, Lalita Devi Dasi, may be now forever situated in His eternal pastimes in the spiritual world.

Question: How to Be Liberated in This Materialistic Age?

Respectful honors to Guruji,

If one wants to be a eternal servant of the Supreme Almighty Personality of Godhead Krishna in Goloka Vrindavana, to come out of samsara sagara, the ocean of birth and death, in the current lifetime, but out of the strong influence of maya, especially in this present materialistic age of Kali in which the three modes of material nature are very strong, he is helpless and unable to surrender to the Lord, would he, since he has the spiritual thirst within, go back to spiritual abode at the end of his present life?

Humbly,

Ramesh R.

Answer: A Strong Thirst is All That is Required

A strong thirst is all that is required. If one is truly spiritually thirsty, Krishna will empower him to break free from the influence of the material nature and fully surrender unto Him. This will guarantee his entrance into the spiritual world at the time of death.
