Krishna Consciousness Means Unadulterated Happiness

There is happiness in this material world, but it is not pure. It is adulterated with misery. Therefore it is not real happiness. It is maya-sukhaya, illusory happiness, only. If you want pure unadulterated happiness, you must come to the spiritual platform of realizing that you are the eternal servant of Krishna and engaging yourself practically in His service beginning with your tongue by tasting Krishna prasadam, food offered to Lord Sri Krishna with love and devotion, and by also chanting the Hare Krishna mantra with love and devotion.

Question: Intoxicants Forbidden in Bible and Quran?

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I request you to clarify a confusion:

According to bona fide scriptures one of the four regulative principles to regain one's dormant love for Godhead is avoidance of intoxicants like tobacco and alcohol. I would like to know whether this principle is mentioned in the scriptures of other modes of religious practices like the Bible and the Quran.

Regards,
Sunil

Answer: Intoxicants Not Favorable for God Consciousness

The principle of avoiding intoxication is common to all religious systems because intoxication dulls
the intelligence and weakens one's sense of morality. For example in the Bible in Ephesians 5:18 it is stated,

"Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit."

And in the Quran it is stated (Surah 5:90, Yusuf Ali)

"O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,-of Satan's handiwork: eschew such (abomination), they ye may prosper.
