We Should Stop Cheating Ourselves

We've been wandering here in this material existence for countless eons suffering like anything in the cycle of birth and death. Even though we were tasting eternity, bliss, and knowledge in the spiritual world we were thinking that we could enjoy more if we tired to enjoy separately from our loving relationship with Krishna. This was our big mistake. In this way we have been grossly cheated ourselves since time immemorial. It's time now that we stop cheating ourselves and go back to our original home in the spiritual world. The bona fide spiritual master is our guide. He teaches us how to do this.

How to conquer envy?

Answer

The envy we experience for others is simply a manifestation of our original envy of Krishna. We were thinking, "Why should Krishna be the supreme enjoyer? I want to be the supreme enjoyer instead." This is like hand thinking, "Why should I give the food to the stomach. Let me the enjoy the food separately by squeezing it between my fingers." We did not realize that the subordinate enjoyer enjoys equally with the supreme enjoy when he serves Him. The hand gets the full nutritional value of the food when it feeds the food to the stomach. But it gets zero nutritional benefit when it tires to enjoy separately. So, the simple formula for conquering envy is to become intelligent enough to no longer be carried away by our senses.

My Spiritual Journey in a Nutshell

As an American youth I was taught to believe in the. "American dream": Study hard, get a good education and a good job to get a good wife some good kids in a good house to enjoy a good life. But when I got to college I realized that this was not enough. I wanted to know what is the meaning of life, but no one could tell me. So I took to the path of self-realization and was blessed in 1968 with the Hare Krishna mantra and the worship of Radha and Krishna. (I did not know about ISKCON.) This inspired me to drop out of college and renounce the world to become a holy beggar in India. But on the way to India I realized that to renounce everything I had to ultimately renounce renunciation itself and accept something transcendental Thus I embraced the mission of delivering the world from chaos. For this purpose I adopted the life a singer/songwriter who in 1969 became recognized and very much appreciated. In 1971, seeking spiritual perfection, I followed the example of Lord Jesus Christ and prayed to God how I could become His perfect servant. Then God revealed to me path of pure Krishna bhakti as taught by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. On the most auspicious day of 12 August 1971 he accepted me as his disciple. Now on his order and under his most expert guidance I have fully devoted my life for awakening pure love of God within my heart and for making the entire world Krishna conscious.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
