How Much the World Has Become Degraded!

I was shocked when after our cruising across the Black Sea from Tallinn, Estonia to Helsinki, Finland on 12 April we were greeted in Helsinki by a 28 feet tall statue of naked boy urinating. This a permanent fixture and is considered to be a landmark. The Finns have even heated the statue so it can continue "urinating" even in the freezing winter. They are very proud of their statue. And this is supposed to be art. This is so gross that I am not including a picture of it here in Thought for the Day. What has our human civilization come to? Our modern day population has become lower that animals because animals act 100% in accordance with the laws of nature for their species, while these human beings are violating the laws of nature because human life is meant for self-realization not sense gratification. They are now celebrating urination as a wonderful thing.

If I may enquire, why it just takes a minute to realize the fear of unknown like presence of ghosts but takes time to realize the presence of Sri Krishna around?

It doesn't take any time at all. We can immediately be in the divine presence of Krishna because He is fully present in His ambrosially sweet holy names:

hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma
rāma rāma hare hare

By chanting these unlimitedly sublime, transcendental names we immediately drive away all ghostly elements.

My Spiritual Journey in a Nutshell

As an American youth I was taught to believe in the. "American dream": Study hard, get a good education and a good job to get a good wife some good kids in a good house to enjoy a good life. But when I got to college I realized that this was not enough. I wanted to know what is the meaning of life, but no one could tell me. So I took to the path of self-realization and was blessed in 1968 with the Hare Krishna mantra and the worship of Radha and Krishna. (I did not know about ISKCON.) This inspired me to drop out of college and renounce the world to become a holy beggar in India. But on the way to India I realized that to renounce everything I had to ultimately renounce renunciation itself and accept something transcendental Thus I embraced the mission of delivering the world from chaos. For this purpose I adopted the life a singer/songwriter who in 1969 became recognized and very much appreciated. In 1971, seeking spiritual perfection, I followed the example of Lord Jesus Christ and prayed to God how I could become His perfect servant. Then God revealed to me path of pure Krishna bhakti as taught by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. On the most auspicious day of 12 August 1971 he accepted me as his disciple. Now on his order and under his most expert guidance I have fully devoted my life for awakening pure love of God within my heart and for making the entire world Krishna conscious.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
