Save the Drowning Man, Not Just His Shirt
When a man is drowning do we simply try to save his shirt, or do we try to save him? Our modern day so-called civilization misidentifies the material body as being the self and thus spends all of its energy on taking care of the needs of the external body while totally neglecting the needs of the actual self, the spirit self within. Thus no one is able to find any genuine permanent happiness. In this connection Srila Prabhupada says, "No one knows where compassion should be applied. Compassion for the dress of a drowning man is senseless. A man fallen in the ocean of nescience cannot be saved simply by rescuing his outward dress -- the gross material body." The Krishna Consciousness Movement is dedicated to taking care of the needs of the actual self so that the whole world can now become peaceful and happy.

Hare Krishna
Manjula Ramesh
My Dear Manjula,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
When you accept the teachings of Lord Krishna as He gives them in the Bhagavad-gita as the guiding principles of your life and strictly abide by them you can know that certainly Lord Sri Krishna is accepting your loving service.
For example, Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita 9.26:
patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ
yo me bhaktyā prayacchati
tad ahaṁ bhakty-upahṛtam
aśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ
"If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it.
So if you do that, He will surely accept your loving offering.
I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.
Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
