Krishna Janmastami Message from the Prime Minister of India

The celebration of the auspicious festival of Janmastami is a blessed occasion for the innumerable devotees of Shri Krishna.

ISKCON has been making a remarkable contribution in spreading the divine philosophy, wisdom and message of Sri Krishna. Its members have been serving the humanity through its numerous philanthropic missions underlining the non-duality of service to God and humanity.

The relevance of Sri Krishna's message of peace, unbounded spiritual love and bliss is timeless and universal in its appeal. His sublime instruction to humanity to perform duty without attachment to its fruits continues to be even more relevant today.

The spiritual effulgence of Srimad Bhagavad Gita is a heritage that has been resonated far and wide. ISKCON has been playing a significant role in helping the the humanity benefit from the profound wisdom and guidance of the Bhagavad Gita. An inspiring treatise, Bhagavad Gita teaches us how to face and act in difficult situations in life. It is a a comprehensive manual that contains solution to every challenge faced by mankind.

As the ISKCON fraternity celebrates Janmasthami, let us all beseech Sri Krishna to bless and guide the mankind. May the collective chant of "Hare Krishna" pervade the spirit and bestow His grace on all the devotees and members of the ISKCON family.

I extend my best wishes to the ISKCON fraternity and pray that the spiritual vibes of Janmasthami celebrations will resonate far and wide and make the world a better place.

Question: How Were We So Fortunate?

Prabhupada, before this movement came here we were so caught up in sinful activities. How is it that we were so fortunate to be blessed with this great Hare Krisna movement?

Sankarshan Das

(This is a question that I asked Srila Prabhupada on 2 March 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia USA.)

Answer: It is Krishna's Mercy

It is Krishna's mercy. Caitanya Mahaprabhu wanted to give you. Now He has come here. You take advantage of it. Caitanya Mahaprabhu is kind to everyone. He has no discrimination that this cult should be spread only in India or amongst the Hindus or amongst the brahmanas. No. He wanted to spread this movement to all living being. Never mind. Prthivite ache yata nagaradi. That is Caitanya Mahaprabhu's mission. So now He has come. If you want, accept Caitanya Mahaprabhu's order, "Simply chant Hare Krishna." That is sufficient. But if you want to know more, further, through philosophy, through science, we have got already thirty or fifty books. Read them. Everything is there. Either you accept directly, or if you want to accept through science, through philosophy, through knowledge, there are books. Both ways, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is ready to help you. Now you take advantage of it. And we are glad that you are taking advantage. Now some of you, they have already joined. And in the educational institution, universities, they are also very much appreciative of our literature. So gradually it will be appreciated. But the sooner you take advantage of it is better.

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
