Whirlwind Preaching Tour in New Delhi, India

Here in New Delhi I am engaged in a whirlwind preaching tour, going here and there to various temples and preaching centers throughout the local vicinity. We are often caught up in immense tortuous traffic jams, which force us to take a very long time to travel a short distance. The day we arrived it took us longer to get to the temple from the airport than it did to fly to Delhi all the way from south India. The material atmosphere is very dense here in this city of ten million with the world's worst air pollution. Everywhere we see people hopelessly, blinding trying to squeeze some happiness out of a life of material sense gratification, even though there is no real happiness to be found here. It is quite insane indeed and makes you very sad. But it is wonderful to see how more and more people here are getting into Krishna consciousness. It encourages you that there will as matter of fact come a day when the entire world will become Krishna conscious. We just have to keep preaching up a storm and working towards that glorious day. The miracles will be happening.

Question: Why is Krishna Consciousness So Important?

On our way back from the temple, our son asked me why is Krishna Consciousness so important? I had to think for a minute what to tell him at his level because I didn't want to give him a mundane answer. I told him that we are trying to attain Krishna prema (pure love of God) by purifying our soul so that we don't suffer the pangs of millions of life cycles! He did not reply, I don't think I made sense to him. How would you explain this to a child?

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
