When Does One Require a Guru?

Recently in Lithuania a sincere young lady asked me, "When does one require a guru?" I explained to her that one requires a guru when one comes to the human form of life, because the human form of life is meant for self-realization, not for sense gratification. A guru is required to teach you how to become self-realized. Therefore as soon as you understand what is the purpose of the human form of life you should immediately take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master to guide you how to attain life's ultimate goal. Then she asked me, "How does one recognize who is a bona fide spiritual master?" I explained to her that the bona fide spiritual master is that person who purely presents the teachings spoken by Lord Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita without any adulteration. By carefully reading the Bhagavad-gita to see what are its teachings, one can then clearly discern who is a bona fide spiritual master that one should take shelter of and who is a charlatan that one should avoid.

Question: How to Remove Fear of Terrorists in Nairobi?

How to remove fear of terrorists? After the recent shopping mall terrorist attack here in Nairobi, Kenya in which the terrorists killed at least 68 people, we are all afraid.

Answer: Depend on Krishna for Your Time of Death

Terrorism is the natural result of an animalistic society. Just as in a jungle some of the animals are ferocious, it is natural that in a society where everyone is an animal some of the animals will be ferocious. Therefore the only solution for terrorism is to elevate the human society beyond the animal platform by teaching them how to revive their dormant Krishna consciousness.

If one remembers that he is not his body and that the time of his death is in the hands of the Lord, he will not be afraid of being killed by any terrorist. The terrorist cannot alter that time which God ordains should be your time of death. In this connection it is said, "rākhe kṛṣṇa māre ke and māre kṛṣṇa rākhe ke. If Krishna wants to kill somebody, nobody can give protection. It is not possible. And if Krishna wants to protect somebody, nobody can kill him." So there is no reason to be afraid in any circumstance if you always depend fully on Krishna to decide when you should die.
