Krishna Consciousness is Practical

One of our readers objected when we mentioned how Krishna consciousness can have an uplifting impact on the world political situation. This reader was thinking that such concepts are mundane. It should be understood in this connection that the Vedic teachings are fully practical and applicable in all spheres of human activity both on the personal level and the societal level. Krishna consciousness can remedy all difficulties of humanity both individually and collectively. We read in the Vedic literatures how auspicious the world atmosphere was for everyone when there were Krishna conscious rulers such as Parikshit Maharaja and Yudhisithira Maharaja. Therefore it is certainly not mundane to advocate the return to God consciousness for the USA or any other country on this planet.

Question: Too Much Reading Has Made Me Stiff

I have a serious query. Too much reading of books has made me a stiff person. I feel that doing material things is wrong. We should leave everything and just take God's name. Doing this is causing me problems to live on day to day basis.

Kindly advise what is our duty.

Answer: Read Prabhupada's Books Instead

The more we read mundane literature, the more we become bewildered and confused. But the more we read Srila Prabhupada's books, the more we become enlightened with transcendental knowledge and delivered from all illusion and confusion.

Krishna did not advise Arjuna to leave everything, nor does He advise us to leave everything. Rather He teaches that we should chant His name as much as possible while simultaneously engaging everything in His service.

Your duty is to chant at least 16 rounds a day of Hare Krishna japa mala along with the strict avoidance of illicit sex, meat eating, intoxication, and gambling. Associate as much as possible with the devotees at your nearest ISKCON temple for hearing the classes, joining the kirtans, and rendering service. In this way your life will become fully joyful, and you will go back to home, back to Godhead at the end of your present life.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
