Finding Unlimited Happiness Within

The external world, the material world, in which we find ourselves situated at the present, is a world of misery. Even if one has the topmost position in this material world of being Brahma, the predominating demigod of this universe, he will find that he is still trapped in the miserable world of birth and death. Therefore if one is looking for genuine happiness, he must look within himself to the unlimitedly wonderful spiritual existence of devotional service to the Supreme Lord. In this way he will discover unlimited peace and happiness as confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita 5.24:

yo 'ntaḥ-sukho 'ntar-ārāmas
tathāntar-jyotir eva yaḥ
sa yogī brahma-nirvāṇaṁ
brahma-bhūto 'dhigacchati

"One whose happiness is within, who is active and rejoices within, and whose aim is inward is actually the perfect mystic. He is liberated in the Supreme, and ultimately he attains the Supreme."

The easiest and most effective method of entering and remain in the sublime internal world even while engaged successfully in the external world is to chant the Hare Krishna mantra faithfully every day with love and devotion.

Question: How to Guide A Meat Eating Child?

Previously I was a non-veg (a meat eater) but coming to Krishna consciousness, we (husband and wife), are now vegetarians. We have two children, the elder is not interested in eating non-veg right from his birth, but I'm getting difficulties for the younger one. He likes to eat non-veg. What should I do to discourage him?

S.S.

Answer: Make Meat Unavailable in Your Home

There is no need to discourage him from eating meat. Simply arrange from now on that absolutely no meat is available anywhere in your house. Instead cook nice sumptuous vegetarian meals offered to Lord Sri Krishna with love and devotion. In this way his desire for meat will go away. If you can fry chunks of home-made milk cheese (panir) in ghee it will resemble meat in texture, flavor, and protein and help him to get free from the taste of eating the rotting, bloody flesh of his little brothers and sisters.
