Sweet Memories of Vrindavan

There is no sweeter, more wonderful place in all universe than Sri Vrindavan Dham because it is here that the Lord displayed 5,000 years ago His most intimate pastimes and it is here that those pastimes are still going even today on for those who have the eyes to see them. Even the neophyte devotee who is just beginning to awaken his transcendental vision will find great inspiration in this holiest of all places where one particle of dust is unlimitedly more valuable than the vast treasure house of Kuvera, the treasurer of the demigods.

Question: How to Keep Enthusiasm When Sick?

Hare Krishna respected, Prabhuji,

Please accept my humble obeisances.,

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.,

First of all thanks so much for your sharing of bliss of Krishna Consciousness with others through these daily mails.,

I have seen in last few years that I struggle to uplift my personal practice of Krishna consciousness for months and I will reach a stage where I am doing all the basics right, but then I will fall sick and everything takes a toss and afterwards sometimes I have to start from zero again.,

How should one deal with this? I know that sickness can be a very positive catalyst in our Krishna consciousness. We can see how miserable this body is. But somehow when the body does not cooperate, I feel it difficult to keep the enthusiasm high or even to maintain it at all.

Thanks so much.

Your servant,
B.N.

Answer: Feed Your Body. Feed Your Soul.

Just as we continue eating for the purpose of maintaining our temporary material bodies even when we are sick, in a similar and even more important way we must continue chanting, reading, and hearing about Krishna for the purpose of reviving our eternal spiritual identities when when we are sick. If one can serve the covering of the self, which is not his actual self, when he is sick, even more importantly he must also serve the actual self in all conditions of sickness and health. In short, just as we don't stop feeding our bodies when we sick, we also must not stop feeding our souls.
