Living in the Middle of a Horror Movie

Living in this material world is like living in the middle of a horror movie. So many horrible things are going on everywhere that the magnitude of the horror simply staggers the imagination. How can anyone agree to live like this or think they are happy living in such a condition? It just goes to show you how powerful is the Lord's material energy, to completely bewilder millions and billions of people like this. What can be said? They wanted to be in the illusion that they are the center of the universe and Krishna fulfilled their desire. This all-pervading horror reminds me of the famous statement of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur that this material world is not a fit place for a gentleman's residence.

Question: Life After Death for a Childless Couple?

Dear Gurudeva,

Please clear my doubts.

What will happen to a couple after death, who does not have children? Is childlessness a result of one's previous life's sins? And why in Hindu dharma it is mentioned that the son is a must for deliverance of his parents?

Answer: Surrendered Souls Go to Krishnaloka

If you will fully surrender to Krishna, you will attain the supreme destination of Krishnaloka at the time of death. For one who has surrendered fully to Krishna it does not matter whether or not he has any children.

Everything that happens to us in this life is a result of our previous pious and impious activities. If we surrender to Krishna, all of our karmic reactions will be transformed into the most auspicious blessings.

The Vedic injunctions for having children is for sinful people who can be saved from hellish conditions after their death when their children perform sacrificial ceremonies on their behalf. This injunction does not apply to devotees because by Krishna's mercy they are already saved from hell.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
