Is the World Running Out of Resources?

The rapidly expanding and developing world civilization is in a predicament. Acute shortages of all varieties are being predicted: food shortage, water shortage, petroleum shortage, and the list goes on and on. If one studies the statistics of supply and demand, it become obvious that the world civilization is heading for a disaster of unprecedented magnitude. However, what the foolish people don't realize is that the earth is withholding her resources because they have become too sinful. If they can simply learn how to live in harmony with the governing principles of the universe and the supreme governor of all existence, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, there will be sufficient resources to comfortably maintain even ten times the current world population.

Question: What is a Devotee's Recreation?

According to Bhagavad-gita "He who is regulated in his habits of eating, sleeping, recreation and work can mitigate all material pains by practicing the yoga system." Please tell me what is meant by recreation as I thought that for a neophyte devotee recreation is prohibited.

Answer: Chanting and Dancing

Devotees are not interested in material recreational activities such as cinema, sports, television, restaurants, etc. because they are deriving unlimited bliss from their superior spiritual recreation, namely chanting and dancing. Such renunciation of material recreation is not dry or artificial because when one gets a higher taste he automatically loses his taste for low class things.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
