In Bhagavad-gita 18.58 Lord Krishna says:

mac-cittaḥ sarva-durgāṇi
mat-prasādāt tariṣyasi
atha cet tvam ahaṅkārān
na śroṣyasi vinaṅkṣyasi

If you become conscious of Me, you will pass over all the obstacles of conditioned life by My grace. If, however, you do not work in such consciousness but act through false ego, not hearing Me, you will be lost.

So if we want to be strong or tough enough to defeat all obstacles all we have to do is to be Krishna conscious. It's as simple as that. Now we just have to do that, and this will make our lives unlimitedly sublime. Nothing will be able to stand in our way.

So personality traits like introversion, extroversion, confidence, ambition, patience, generosity, humor, etc. don't get carried by the subtle body post death to a new material / spiritual body? Since individuality of the soul is asserted by Krsna, these qualities shouldn't vanish right? (as these are what make a person an individual).

Personality traits are carried to next life. For example if someone is very fond of having sex with anybody and everybody with no restriction, this trait will go with them in their next life. They will get the body of a hog and have full facility for unrestricted sex life. The hogs have no restriction for sexual pleasure. They can enjoy sex even with their mother, sister, or daughter.

This is why we should cultivate the personality trait of pure devotional service to Krishna so that we can carry this trait with us back to our original home in the deathless spiritual sky.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a cheerful mood.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
