Krishna's Body Beautifies His Jewels
3 May 2025
We normally think that somebody becomes more beautiful when they adorn themselves with jewels. But with Krishna it is just the opposite. He is the source of all beauty. Therefore, He is unlimitedly beautiful without any jewels. In fact, the jewels although already beautiful in themselves become more beautiful when they are contact with Krishna's beauty. This is confirmed by Srila Prabhupada in his book The Nectar of Devotion as follows:Kṛṣṇa was beautiful because every part of His body was perfectly arranged without any defect. Such perfect bodily features of Kṛṣṇa are described as follows: "My dear enemy of Kaṁsa, Your broad eyes, Your rising chest, Your two pillarlike arms and the thin middle portion of Your body are always enchanting to every lotus-eyed beautiful girl." The ornaments on the body of Kṛṣṇa were not actually enhancing His beauty, but just the reverse—the ornaments were beautified by Kṛṣṇa.
Similarly, if we surrender to Krishna, although compared to the denizens of heaven we are certainly very ugly now, we will become very beautiful because we will be in contact with the supreme all-beautiful Krishna.

Dear Srila Gurudeva,Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Do we practice devotional life to get out from this world?
What should I focus on? Going Back to Godhead or be engaged in this world to do the best I can do to help others and myself all together?
Your servant,
Jagadisvara das
Answer
From: Austin, Texas USAMy Dear Jagadisvara,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Yes, we do devotional service for the purpose of going back to home, back to Godhead. Helping others is one the qualifications for your going back to Godhead because Lord Caitanya has ordered us to do this.
From 4am to 9am focus on your personal sadhana. From 9am to 5pm focus on spreading the sankirtan movement through book distribution, hari nama sankritan, etc. And from
5pm to 9pm focus on your personal sadhana.
Focus on being the fully surrendered servant of Guru and Gauranga.
I hope this meets you in the best of health
and in a cheerful mood.
Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
My Spiritual Journey in a Nutshell
As an American youth I was taught to believe in the. "American dream": Study hard, get a good education and a good job to get a good wife some good kids in a good house to enjoy a good life. But when I got to college, I realized that this was not enough. I wanted to know what the meaning of life is, but no one could tell me. So, I took to the path of self-realization and was blessed in 1968 with the Hare Krishna mantra and the worship of Radha and Krishna. (I did not know about ISKCON.) This inspired me to drop out of college and renounce the world to become a holy beggar in India. But on the way to India, I realized that to renounce everything I had to ultimately renounce renunciation itself and accept something transcendental Thus I embraced the mission of delivering the world from chaos. For this purpose, I adopted the life a singer/songwriter who in 1969 became recognized and very much appreciated. In 1971, seeking spiritual perfection, I followed the example of Lord Jesus Christ and prayed to God how I could become His perfect servant. Then God revealed to me path of pure Krishna bhakti as taught by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. On the most auspicious day of 12 August 1971, he accepted me as his disciple. Now on his order and under his most expert guidance I have fully devoted my life for awakening pure love of God within my heart and for making the entire world Krishna conscious. To read about my journey in detail get my memoir:
