Reality Has Become Like a Horror Movie
On 13 November as I write this, I am presently suffering from a very bad case of bronchitis. I am coughing, coughing, coughing with very little mucus coming out. The polluted air that I have no choice but to breathe here in Mumbai, India is not helping me. In fact, it is making things worse. The air in Delhi was horrible, and it also extremely bad here in Mumbai. By the time you read this I will in Trivandram where the air is going to be almost as bad. Even in Vrindavan the air is horribly polluted.
How much the human society has degraded into sinfulness that the water is so filthy and air is so dangerously polluted. And we are so crazy that we think that because of our motorcars, airplanes, internet, and air conditioning that we have made great advancement from the old days when we used a horse and buggy to go to town to do our shopping. In those days the air was crystal clear and you could drink water right out of the river. This is all because our minds are polluted. We are constantly being bombarded with cigarette advertisements, liquor advertisements, meat advertisements, and partiality naked women advertisements luring us to want to see the women fully undressed.
Regarding the so-called advancement of the modern civilization the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust has written:
"Man prides himself on being a creature of reason, above the lowly beasts. Yet it seems that when he applies his reason to unlocking the secrets of nature for his benefit, he sinks deeper and deeper into a quagmire of intractable problems. The internal combustion engine gets us where we're going faster, but also results in choking air pollution, the greenhouse effect, and a dangerous dependence on oil. Harnessing the atom gives us cheap energy, but also leads to weapons of mass destruction, Chernobyl, and a rising tide of dangerous radioactive waste. Modern agribusiness produces a dizzying variety and abundance of food at the supermarket, but also results in the death of the family farm, the pollution of ground water, the loss of precious topsoil, and many other problems."
My question is this: When will we make us from all of this madness thinking that material advancement will make us happy and put Krishna back in the center? This and only this can bring happiness back to the human society.

My dear sir,
Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Prabhupada!
I was going to our prasadam hall today when I overheard a conversation inside. Basically, the person was saying that people who practice spiritual life full-time are losers. This has really disturbed me and I'm finding it hard to chant my japa because I feel like they are right in some way. Personally, I became a brahmachari because I wasn't doing well in my job or relationships. So are we really losers or is an aspiring servant of Krishna just as good as someone with a job? if you could explain why it would really help me.
Thank you for kindly considering my request,
Your servant,
Jagannatha Dasa

Answer
From: Mumbai, IndiaMy Dear Jagannatha das,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
You are better off than someone who has a job. You both are working. But they are working for non-devotees, and you are working for Krishna. Thus, your position is millions of times better than their position.
Try to understand which is better: to get Krishna’s full mercy immediately or gradually?
How can you be so foolish to listen to such less intelligent rascals? Those who fully surrender to Krishna gain immediate access to the spiritual kingdom. Those who want to only gradually surrender will have take birth again in this miserable material world to get another chance to try for full surrender to Krishna. Of course, those householders who appreciate the mood of the brahmacari and embrace that mood in their household life will also get immediate access to the kingdom of God.
I hope this meets you in the best of health.
Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
