Are you Krishnaloka dreamin'?
Thought For the Day
The Ultimate Self Realization Course
"Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience."
Are You Krishnaloka Dreamin'?
Today's Thought for the Day is a poem:Krishnaloka Dreamin'
Things are lookin' badI'm captured by dismay
Misery's got me swallowed
What more can I now say?
To be back home with Krishna now
Would drive my grief away
Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day.
Great sages through the age
Have taught us not to roam.
We do not have to wander
In this place that's not our home.
Revealing us the secret,
Krishna's name's the way to pray.
Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day.
In that Krishnaloka
No misery exists
Through ecstatic loving dealings
Everything subsists
Krishna plays His splendid flute
Puts all under His sway
Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day.
Things are lookin' bad
I'm captured by dismay
Misery's got me swallowed
What more can I now say?
To be back home with Krishna
Would drive my grief away
Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day
Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day
Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day.

As per ISKCON, do people need to take diksha (initiation) to chant the Mahamantra, or can non-initiates also chant it?Answer
There is no such thing as “per ISKCON.” What ISKCON teaches is “per the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita.” In the Bhagavad-gita Krishna says, satataṁ kīrtayanto māṁ
yatantaś ca dṛḍha-vratāḥ
namasyantaś ca māṁ bhaktyā
nitya-yuktā upāsate
“Always chanting My glories, endeavoring with great determination, bowing down before Me, these great souls perpetually worship Me with devotion.”
So there is no restriction. Anyone who is always chanting Krishna’s glories is a great soul. And Krishna also instructs as follows in the Bhagavad-gita:
tad viddhi praṇipātena
paripraśnena sevayā
upadekṣyanti te jñānaṁ
jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ
“Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth.”
Thus those who are chanting Krishna’s name will naturally want to obey him and accept a spiritual master. The chanting comes first and the spiritual master comes later to help one become perfect in the art of chanting. There is an example in this connection. Anyone can sit down and try to play a piano. It does not require a teacher to do this. But when one wants to become an expert piano player he must be guided by a teacher.
I hope that now you have a clear understanding of what Krishna teaches in the Bhagavad-gita. The Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, has guided his followers how to have a perfect understanding of what Lord Sri Krishna teaches in the Bhagavad-gita.
