We Should Not Cheat Ourselves
Here we are, eternal spiritual beings qualitatively one with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Who is eternal, full of knowledge, and full of bliss. But yet out of our addiction to material sense gratification we keep foolishly misidentifying ourselves with these temporary bodies, which are full of ignorance and misery. It's high time that we wake up and submissively hear from the great sages who are so expertly guiding us how to get out of this imprisonment in this material existence and go back to Home, back to Godhead.

Humble obeisance at your lotus feet.
If a person chants 16 rounds of Mahamantra but he/she is non-vegetarian and is also often taking tea, coffee and tobacco (not alcohol), is there any sin being done by him/her?
But he/she is eager to take the 16 rounds of Mahamantra daily and wants to keep his/her mind most of the time in a day himself/herself to the Godhead. In that case as a non-vegetarian or the consumption of tea, coffee, tobacco would be the big matter?
And above all, he/she does not want to engage strictly himself/herself in any illicit sex and is constantly trying to avoid the mental speculation or gambling.
If I am asking a foolish question please forgive me as an ignorant person.
Your always servant,
My Dear B,
Please accept my blessings.

Yes, he is sinful.
By chanting he is purifying himself. But by sinful activities he contaminates himself. It is compare to what is called hasti-snāna, elephant bath. It is like the elephant who bathes in the lake but gets out and rolls in the dirt to dry himself.
The elephant takes bath in the lake. Very profusely he throws water on his body and becomes cleansed. And as soon as he comes on the shore, he takes again dust and spreads over his body. Similarly, there are different processes for getting out of
the reaction of sinful activities, but if we again commit those sinful activities, then what is the use of such penance? It is hasti-snāna.
I hope this meets you in the best of health.
