Most Holy Appearance Day of Srila Prabhupada

Today is the most auspicious day. Today is the day that my most beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace Om Visnupada Paramahamsa Parivrajacarya Astottara Sata Sri Srimad Abhay Caranaravinda Bhaktivedanta Tridandi Goswami Maharaja Prabhupada appeared in this world on 1 September 1896. Because our modern day calendar is different from the Vedic calendar that day this year is on 20 August. In loving service to my spiritual master I offer him this poem that I wrote for him on 16 September 1983 in Norman, Oklahoma:

Song to Prabhupada

My dear Srila Prabhupada
Won’t you please set me free.
Give your loving mercy to me
I’m so blind I cannot see
Drowning in this ocean of hopelessness.
Please pick me up, put me on the path
I’ve veered out of the way
I’ve gone so far astray
That there’s no telling of my whereabouts.

My dear Srila Prabhupada
Please put me back on my feet
Get me back out on the street
Telling all the people that I meet
That here’s the way that we can go back to Godhead.
Yes, I’m ready to go anywhere
I’m ready now to preach
Th Gita I will teach
To anyone who has the ears to hear.

My dear Srila Prabhupada
You’ve been so kind to me
Mercifully You’ve come and set me free
Now I’m ready to do the same for others.
I don’t need anything except your order
That’s my life and soul
Your pleasure is my goal
Eternally let me remain as your servant .

Your love has pulled me through
Given me a life anew
Yes, you’ve turned my life into a blissful celebratio.
Traveling to the supreme destination.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Who is this Krishna?

Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
