Ecstatic Pre-Dawn Morning Walk in Moonlight

While I was taking my usual pre-dawn morning walk I was especially awed by the beautiful full moon shining brilliantly over the forest that borders our neighborhood. This was not a ordinary full moon. This was the full mood radiating from Lord Balarama's appearance day. Seeing this full moon I reminded of and feeling a connection with Lord Balarama's pastime of dancing rasa dance with the gopis, which is described as follows by Srila Prabhupada in the Krishna Book Chapter 65:

"Lord Balarama, of course, could understand the ecstatic feelings of the gopis, and therefore He wanted to pacify them. He was expert in presenting an appeal, and thus, treating the gopis very respectfully, He began to narrate the stories of Krsna so tactfully that the gopis became satisfied. To keep the gopis in Vrndavana satisfied, Lord Balarama stayed there continuously for two months, namely the months of Caitra (March–April) and Vaisakha (April–May). For those two months He kept Himself among the gopis, and He passed every night with them in the forest of Vrndavana to satisfy their desire for conjugal love. Thus Balarama also enjoyed the rasa dance with the gopis during those two months. Since the season was springtime, the breeze on the bank of the Yamuna was blowing very mildly, carrying the aroma of different flowers, especially the flower known as kaumudi. Moonlight filled the sky and spread everywhere, and thus the banks of the Yamuna appeared very bright and pleasing, and Lord Balarama enjoyed the company of the gopis there."

It was a most beautiful wonderful few moments to feel connected with this most nectarean pastime of Lord Balarama and the gopis, the cowherd girls of Vrindavan.

Question: Is it Possible to Change One's Rasa?

Prabhu, it is said that those who worship Krishna go to Goloka and those who worship Vishnu go to Vaikuntha. It is also said that after going back to Godhead, we go back to the spiritual planet where we originally were, like either Vaikuntha or Ayodhya or Dwarka or Goloka irrespective of whether we worshipped Krishna or Vishnu.

So, which of these is true?

Sarita Arya

Answer: Yes, But It Does Not Usually Happen

From: ISKCON Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Sarita,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Although generally it does not happen, it is possible to be from Vaikuntha originally but then go to Goloka Vrindavan when going back to Godhead. Srila Prabhupada explained this as follows in morning walk conversation in Los Angeles on 7 June 1976:

Rāmeśvara: Each one of us has an original relationship with Kṛṣṇa, some as plant, some as tree, some as cow, some as cowherd boy. So if that is re-established, why should the devotee desire to change it?
Prabhupāda: Well, that is spiritual kingdom. You can change if you like.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: It is not static, Prabhupāda once explained. Love is not static.
Prabhupāda: Generally, it is not changed. Just like mother Yaśodā, she's mother all the time, eternally.

I hope this meets you in the best of health.

Your ever well-wisher,
