Do You Know How Insignificant is Our 100 Years?

A day of Brahmā is called a kalpa, and it consists of a thousand cycles of the four yugas, or ages: Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali. Satya-yuga lasts for 1,728,000 years. Tretā-yuga lasts for 1,296,000 years. Dvāpara-yuga lasts for 864,000 years. And Kali-yuga lasts for 432,000 years. The total of the four yugas is 4,320,000 years. And multiplied by 1,000 is 4,320,000,000 years. And that is only 12 hours of Lord Brahmā. His 24 hours is then 8,640,000,000 years. And when we consider that he lives for 100 years with each year having 360 days we see that Brahmā lives for 311 trillion and 40 billion earth years and then dies. That is the duration period for the existence of our universe. And that huge span of time is merely the amount of time existing between the exhalation and inhalation of Maha-Vishnu. So just consider how insignificant is our puny lifetime of 100 years. And evn that is very attained nowadays.

Dear Srila Gurudeva,

The question I asked dated 26/08/22 in Bhagavatam class was not properly asked, kindly pardon me. By your grace only that I'm able to follow the initiation vows.

My real question was that Your Grace and Srimati Gurumata are very steady and determined in your devotional services inspite of health and other problems. I also want to be like that. But I'm unable to be like that. Because the body does not cooperate and also I am the understand the strong influence of the modes of material nature.

So where should I start working so that one day I can become steady and be able to please you always?

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
