Why Be Miserable When You Constantly Taste Unlimited Bliss?

There is no reason be bounced up and down on the waves of material happiness and distress always feeling that there is something lacking in your life. Follow this simple instruction from Lord Sri Krishna and your life will be unlimitedly, ever-increasingly sublime:

na prahṛṣyet priyaṁ prāpya
nodvijet prāpya cāpriyam
sthira-buddhir asammūḍho
brahma-vid brahmaṇi sthitaḥ

"A person who neither rejoices upon achieving something pleasant nor laments upon obtaining something unpleasant, who is self-intelligent, who is unbewildered, and who knows the science of God, is already situated in transcendence." (Bhagavad-gita Chapter 5, Text 20)

Just try for one day to put this into practice, and your life will be completely, wonderfully transformed.

Question: Hope for the Mentally Ill?

I offer my respectful obeisances to you. All glories to Sri Prabhupada.

I suffer from mental illness and take a great deal of medication to help with my symptoms, as well as medication to treat various health conditions. Do you accept initiated disciples who require this level of medical assistance? You often talk about how love for Krishna can banish one's distress and depression. Are you actually saying that Krishna's mercy can heal us from our afflictions? I often spend a great deal of time with wandering and racing thoughts. I am unable to fixate my mind on anything for any length of time, and often find my chanting and devotional efforts derailed by my inability to concentrate. Yet in Krishna consciousness we are required to at all times, in all places and with all our hearts, both love and remember Krishna. How to become a devotee when one is plagued by mental illness to the point he cannot fix his mind firmly in devotional service? Is there hope for salvation with such people?
