Question: Guru is Required to Understand Scripture?

I have a question regarding the Bhagavd-gita. My question to you is that:

Is it possible to read and realize the deep meaning of the holy scriptures like the Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam without the help of any bonafide spiritual master or guru?

I mean if the guru or pure devotee is not available near us can we never understand the scriptures by reading them individually with the help of purport?

Since Krishna orders you in the Bhagavad-gita to take shelter of a bonafide spiritual master, if you do not do so you are disobeying Krishna and therefore cannot realize the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita.

The physical presence of the spiritual master is not required. Simply you have to be in contact with his teachings and follow all of his instructions.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee.
