Is Nationalism Rationalism?

In every nation we are taught that our identity is as a member of that nation and that our nation is the best. We are taught to think that what is beneficial for our nation is more important than what is beneficial for other nations. This nationalism, nation-centered consciousness, is what often leads to wars between various nations each trying to establish their superiority over other nations. This is why a study of history is simply studying a series of wars, one after another. I remember growing up in the USA how we were taught to see American history as a series of wars: the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War One, etc. This nationalism is not rationalism because the real fact is that we are all one family. We are all the children of God and the whole planet belongs to Him. These national boundaries are the artificial concoction of materialistic men who think their country belongs to them instead of seeing that is actually belongs to God. We are born with nothing and we die with nothing. But yet in the middle we fight claiming, "This is my land."

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
