Fearlessness Through Spiritual Vision

When we see the spiritual basis of this material existence we become immediately free from all anxiety because we then are able to understand how everything is working in all times, places, and circumstances under the direction of the Supreme Person for the ultimate good. When, however, we do not see this spiritual basis we become caught up in the material dualities of heat and cold, pain and pleasure, wealth and poverty, sickness and health, birth and death, honor and dishonor, etc. Thus we suffer unnecessarily in so many ways. The way to develop that spiritual vision is to hear submissively from a person who is self-realized. Thus those who are self-realized compassionately broadcast the teachings of spiritual consciousness all over the world to relieve the suffering humanity from their countless anxieties. Unfortunately all too few people take advantage of their teachings.

Do I need a guru in order to become spiritually awakened?

Answer: God Says So

Yes, a guru is required, not because the guru says so, but because God says so. In the Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 4, Text 34 Lord Sri Krishna gives the following order:

tad viddhi praṇipātena
paripraśnena sevayā
upadekṣyanti te jñānaṁ
jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ

TRANSLATION

“Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.”

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
