New Temple for ISKCON Austin

By Lord Sri Krishna's grace we have a new temple building now here in Austin to worship Him and to educate the world how to achieve the ultimate perfection of consciousness, a loving, serving relationship with Him, that Supreme Person, Who is the source of all existence. In that loving mental state one achieves boundless transcendental happiness and realizes practically that there is no happiness of this material world that can compete with even an insignificant fragment of the happiness derived by reviving one's original loving relationship with Krishna or God. Our mission is to enlighten the entire human population of this planet in this topmost of all sciences and thus bless them with the supreme happiness which never diminishes but goes on increasing unlimitedly forever.

If you are in the Austin area, our temple is at 12012 North Interstate Highway 35, at the corner of Wren and North Interstate Highway 35. The temple is open every Sunday from 4:30pm to 7:30pm for kirtan, arati, lecture, and prasadam. If you any questions, call 1-512-835-2121.

If you would like to do some devotional service to help make the building fully ready for serving Krishna, for items such as a marble altar and proper wiring for our electric stove, and many other items, you can contribute below.

Question: Fate of One Who Offends a Devotee?

I want to know about the fate of a person who has committed Vaisnava offence. Will his devotion be destroyed? How to rectify that mistake?

Bhageshvari Devi Dasi

Answer: His Spiritual Life is Spoiled

From: ISKCON Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Bhageshvari,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Regarding Vaisnava aparadha, offending a Vaisnava, Srila Prabhupada describes as follows in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, 4th Canto, Chapter 21, Text 37:

"While describing the system of protection for the creeper of devotional service, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has especially stressed protection from offenses unto the lotus feet of Vaisnavas. Such offenses are called vaisnava-aparadha. Aparadha means 'offense.' If one commits vaisnava-aparadhas, all of his progress in devotional service will be checked. Even though one is very much advanced in devotional service, if he commits offenses at the feet of a Vaisnava, his advancement is all spoiled. In the sastras it is found that a very great yogi, Durvasa Muni, committed a vaisnava-aparadha and thus for one full year had to travel all over the universe, even to Vaikunthaloka, to defend himself from the offense. At last, even when he approached the Supreme Personality of Godhead in Vaikuntha, he was refused protection. Therefore one should be very careful about committing offenses at the feet of a Vaisnava."

Srila Prabhupada describes in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, 4th Canto,Chapter 26, Text 24 how to become relieved from the reaction to offending a Vaisnava:

“..if one pollutes his Krishna consciousness by offending a brahmana or a Vaisnava, one cannot revive it until one properly atones for the sin by pleasing the offended Vaisnava or brahmana.”

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.
Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
