The Unlimited Mercy of Vaisnava Association

After being tossed helplessly in the cycle of birth and death for millions and billions of lifetimes a soul who is greatly fortunate is blessed with the association of a Vaisnava who plants within his heart the seed of love of God. And then if he is even more fortunate that soul will then cultivate that seed by regularly hearing and chanting the glories of the Lord and thus qualify himself fully for going back to home, back to Godhead.

Question: How to Be Spiritual in Material Life

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to you.

Dear sir, I am a academic researcher at the university level. I am a regular reader of Bhagavad-gita. My doubt is: If we are living in a material life, how can we live better in material life? And is it possible to acquire spirituality in material life? Sometimes it is very tough to fully surrender to God because I am not living alone. Many family members are depending on me on for food and shelter and for better life. So please guide me. I am in a very troubled situation.

Answer: Follow These Guidelines

As long as we have material bodies material necessities will always be there. So we should minimize our material necessities as much as possible so that we have as much time and energy as possible to cultivate our Krishna consciousness. If you will chant at least sixteen rounds of Hare Krishna japa mala every day and strictly avoid illicit sex, meat eating, intoxication, and gambling, and accept initiation from the bona fide spiritual master, you can become spiritually perfect even while simultaneously very nicely executing your material duties.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
