Bogus Devotion and Genuine Devotion

Arriving here in New Dwarka (Los Angles) after a 14 hour flight from Melbourne we are blessed by the association of so many wonderful devotees of Krishna. This association with Vaisnavas, the devotees of the Lord, is our very life and soul, the sustenance of our existence. In the material world nowadays, hell is breaking loose practically every day with one terrorist attack after another after another. But we devotees of Krishna know that the solution to terrorism and all the problems of the world is the awakening of the dormant love of God within our hearts. Such love of God or Krishna consciousness automatically includes genuine compassion for all living beings, just as when you water the root of a tree all the leaves and branches are also automatically watered. Devotion to God expressed by cruelty God's creatures is not devotion to God at all. It is simply bogus. Real devotion to God automatically includes devotion to all of His children, in all species of life.

Dear Master,

This sex desire is trying to control me. Even when I don't want to think in a sexual way, it is creating sexual images in my mind and forcing me to think in such a manner. It's like for that moment, I absolutely loose control over myself. Thank God, it is just for a second, or else it will make me act as well.

Is this due to strong impressions of this desire on my mind?

The more that you chant the Holy Names of the Lord, the more you will become free from all the mental rubbish that has accumulated in your heart for thousands and millions of lifetimes in this material world. The more you put Krishna in, the more you will squeeze Maya or illusion out.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
