Don't Deceive and Cheat Yourself

By your very constitution you are meant to enjoy unlimited happiness at every minute. Therefore don't deceive and cheat yourself by foolishly misidentifying yourself with a rotting material body. In such a delusional state you can never be happy in spite of whatever nice arrangements you have made for yourself here in this temporary material world. Therefore you should reawaken your eternal spiritual nature and relish eternally the bliss of loving service to the Supreme Lord in any one of His many forms.

Question: What is LSD?

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Gurudeva, I have two queries. First: What is LSD? Second: When I chant one round of japa on the beads I feel very tired and don't feel like continuing my japa. Please help me.

Your eternal servant,
S.S.

Answer: A Powerful Hallucinogenic Drug

LSD is a powerful hallucinogenic drug which induces a dream like state in the mind even while one is awake. Like all other forms of intoxication it is detrimental for Krishna consciousness and should be strictly avoided.

Even if you feel tried after chanting one round, you should continue chanting your rounds. Even if you are not chanting in ecstasy but are merely chanting out of the duty, the chanting should not be given up under any circumstances. In this connection Srila Rupa Goswami has nicely advised as follows:

syāt kṛṣṇa-nāma-caritādi-sitāpy avidyā-
pittopatapta-rasanasya na rocikā nu
kintv ādarād anudinaṁ khalu saiva juṣṭā
svādvī kramād bhavati tad-gada-mūla-hantrī

“The holy name, character, pastimes and activities of Kṛṣṇa are all transcendentally sweet like sugar candy. Although the tongue of one afflicted by the jaundice of avidyā [ignorance] cannot taste anything sweet, it is wonderful that simply by carefully chanting these sweet names every day, a natural relish awakens within his tongue, and his disease is gradually destroyed at the root.”-- Upadesamrita 7

Therefore keep chanting, even if you are tired, and gradually the day will come when you can chant 24 hours a day without feeling tired.
