Take Control of Your Life

There are certain things we have no control over such as birth, death, old age, and disease. But there are other things that we have complete control over such where we place our consciousness at every minute. There is no sense being frustrated over things we cannot control. These things we must simply learn how to tolerate. But in regards to those things that we do have control over, if we take complete mastery over them under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master, we will attain the platform of unlimited happiness, pure Krishna bhakti.

Question: Sinful and Pure Chanters

I am very happy that you have given me the meaning of pure devotional service. Thank you very much.

I want to know about the verse in which Lord Krishna says that He will destroy all our sins if we completely surrender to Him and chant His name. There may be two persons. One person keeps on remembering Krishna's name but also sins intentionally. Will that person be liberated by Lord Krishna? And the second is he who does not do any sin intentionally and chants Krishna's name. What is the difference between these two persons?

Answer: Pure Chanting is Required

Krishna says that He delivers those who fully surrender to Him. He does not say that He delivers those who commit sins on the strength of chanting Hare Krishna. Those who sin intentionally and chant for trying to be relieved from the reactions to their sins are the greatest offenders against the holy name and will not be delivered.

Of those who do not sin intentionally there are two categories. One category is those who chant but unintentionally sin due to past bad habits. Krishna says that one who unintentionally sins but again seriously resumes chanting and serving is to be considered saintly. The other category is the chanter who is completely free from all sin. He is the best of the devotees and will surely be swiftly delivered by the Lord.
