Visnupriya Mataji Health Emergency

I am currently en route being driven by Sriman Lalitanath Prabhu to Odense, Denmark where my wife, Visnupriya Mataji is being admitted to a neurosurgery center at a hospital for a bleeding brain. When Srila Prabhupada became gravely ill he authorized us, his disciples, to pray to Krishna, "If you so desire, please cure Srila Prabhupada." So in this same mood I am praying to Lord Krishna that if He so desires that Visnupriya Mataji may quickly become strong and happy. The ultimate outcome is in the hands of the Lord. We do not know what plan He has in mind for this great saintly devotee, Srimati Visnupriya devi dasi. But from our side we are begging that she soon will become strong and healthy. I will keep you posted with the updates.

Question: Other Mantras are Not Authorized?

One of my friend was asking me, "How is ISKCON an authorized society?" In support to his question he said that even Tirupati Balaji, Lord Vithhal of Pandharpur, Dwarkadish of Dwarka are the Lords and there they do not recommend chanting of Hare Krishna Maha mantra. He says that in the scriptures it is recommend to chant "Om namo Bhagvate Vasudevaya". At Tirupati they chant "Venkatramana Govinda." At Pandharpur people chant "Jai Jai Vithhal Rakumai" etc.........

So how we can say that all these other mantras are not authorized? How can only Hare Krishna Maha Mantra be recommended? He adds that he feels that in ISKCON like people get bound up in a same circle of activity. I could not answer him. So please comment on this.

Answer: All of God's Names are Authorized

The Hare Krishna movement does not say that chanting Hare Krishna is only the way. Our teaching is that one can chant any name of God and attain spiritual perfection. We prefer to chant Hare Krishna because it is stated in the Kali-Santarana Upanisad that there is no more effecive mantra for attaining spiritual perfection in this age than the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra. But we never say that chanting other names of God besides Hare Krishna is not authorized. I do not know from where you friend has gotten this mistaken idea. Kindly inform him that our philosophy is that one chant any names of God and attain perfection.

If all names of God are good, then Hare Krishna is also good. So your friend should not think that it is bad to chant Hare Krishna.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
