Don't Get Carried Away
In this material world death can appear at any moment and instantly remove us from our present circumstances when we least expect it. Therefore we should never be overly excited or despondent over anything good or bad that happens to us in this world. Rather we should always remain transcendentally situated on the plane of Krishna consciousness far, far beyond the modes of material nature and their millions upon millions of varieties of interactions. This is the real platform of happiness. It can easily be attained by anyone who desires it strongly.

Answer: Get the Higher Taste
The key is to to try always think, act, and speak in a way to pleasing to Lord Krishna in all times, places, and circumstances. In order to be empowered to do this you need to chant the Hare Krishna Mantra as much as possible every day on japa mala beads. Plus you need to give up sinful activities such as meat eating, intoxication, illicit sex, and gambling. By sincerely engaging yourself in Krishna consciousness you will experience a higher pleasure than from any type of material sense gratification. By getting this higher taste from Krishna consciousness you will automatically give up the activities of material sense gratification, which are our very source of misery.Sankarshan Das Adhikari
