The Supreme Cannot be Devoid of Selfness

Self-realization means not only to realize who you are. It means to also realize Who is the Supreme Self. Since the individual self only exists in relationship with the Supreme Self, there is no way to become self-realized which does not include realizing the Supreme Self.

Some seekers of spiritual enlightenment mistakenly theorize that the Supreme is devoid of personality that it does not have selfness or selfhood. But nothing could be further from the truth. Since we see that so many personalities exist throughout the creation, we can understand that just as a gold-yielding goldmine must necessarily possess gold, similarly the ultimate fountainhead of all energies, from which all of these selves emanate, must also necessarily possess selfness.

Therefore genuine self-realization means to reconnect with that original Self, the Supreme Self.

Question: Tools for Improved Chanting?....

Sometimes while repeating Maha-Mantra I make a lot of aparadhas (offenses) and I feel not good because of it. I cannot understand why one day all with my japa is ok but another day it seems to be terrible however there is not any visible reasons. Are there some additional tools which help to make my repeating of the Maha-mantra clearer?

Answer: Serve Pure Vaisnavas...

I am very happy to hear that you are endeavoring to improve the quality of your chanting. Because your taste for chanting has not yet become mature you sometimes become very distracted from chanting. The Srimad Bhagavatam gives the perfect answer to your question as follows:

susrusoh sraddadhanasya
vasudeva-katha-rucih
syan mahat-sevaya viprah
punya-tirtha-nisevanat

"O twice-born sages, by serving those devotees who are completely freed from all vice, great service is done. By such service, one gains affinity for hearing the messages of Vasudeva."
----Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.16

In other words, if you will as much as possible serve pure Vaisnavas the Hare Krishna mantra will naturally be experienced by you in an ever-increasingly wonderful way. The Hare Krishna mantra will gradually become so amazingly sweet that your mind will naturally gravitate towards it 24 hours daily just as the River Ganges naturally flows to the Bay of Bengal.

So whenever you the opportunity to associate with and serve those who are purely practiscing the science of bhakti, you must take advantage of this. This will greatly facilitate the awakening of the dormant bhakti which is currently sleeping within your heart.
