Renounce the World or Save the World?
There are two classes of transcendentalists: those whose only desire is to renounce the world and those whose endeavor is to save the world.
Those who are simply trying to renounce the world undergo great penances and austerities in their attempt to do so, but in spite of this, they often fall from the rigid path because of deep-seated difficult-to-overcome material desires.
On the other hand, those who are trying to save others from illusion by spreading the science of devotion all over the world, even though often undergoing difficulties, taste an inconceivably sweet nectar, which completely dwarfs all forms of worldly pleasure. Therefore such spiritual revolutionaries are already liberated from all material desires.
So by comparative analysis we can easily see it is better to dedicate our lives fully to global respiritualization because by doing so one attains the platform which includes and goes beyond mere renunciation of this world.

The first point is that it was directly spoken by the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna. This makes it more automatically more authoritative than any other words that have ever been spoken in all eternity.
The fact that this most famous of all conversations was dictated by Vedavyasa, the compiler of the Vedic wisdom, and written down by Ganesh, adds even more weight to its credibility.
Also the fact that that the renowned acharya, Sripad Sankaracharya, who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva, has written a commentary on the Bhagavad-gita, lends more weight to its credibility.
And then, the fact that Krishna Himself appearing in the form of His own devotee, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, also accepted and promoted the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita, gives it even more weight.
Further evidence is that the most empowered acharya in history for spreading spiritual enlightenment all over the world, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, has also reconfirmed the legitimacy of the Gita and stressed its absolute importance.
And the reality that by carefully following the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita one becomes qualified to directly meet God face-to-face, eye-to-eye, absolutely proves that it is not only bona fide, but also most highly effective.
There are many more ways to substantiate the authority of the Bhagavad-gita. What I have given here is the mere tip of the iceberg. If you would like to delve deeper and deeper into the topmost science of Bhagavad-gita, I humbly request you to carefully study Bhagavad-gita As It Is by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
