We were blessed by the sacred river Ganges.

Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Blessed by the Sacred River Ganges 5,000 years ago the Srimad Bhagavatam was spoken by Sukadeva Goswami to Maharaja Parikshit on the bank of the sacred Ganges River. It was our greatest blessing that on 28 November in the most holy place of Sri Mayapur Dham that we were able to go the bank of this most sacred river and be blessed by her darshan as well as being purified by her water on our heads and bodies. One moon illuminates the entire sky.

Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." One Moon Can Illuminate the Entire Sky On a morning walk on 23 March in 1974, Bombay (Mumbai) Srila Prabhupada told us, "I don't make any compromise with these rascals. No words. No, no. I'll never make that. Even if I don't get any disciple, I'll be satisfied. But I cannot make any compromise as these rascals. I cannot make. Ekaś candras tamo hanti na ca tārā sahasrasaḥ. If I create one moon, that is sufficient. I don't want many stars. That was my Guru Mahārāja's principle, and that is my principle. What is the use of having number of fools and rascals? If one man understands rightly, he can deliver the whole world." In this connection he told us in a lecture in New York on 12 April 1969, "But fortunately, by Kṛṣṇa's grace, many moonlike boys and girls have come to me. You see? Many moons...

Taste the sweetness of ISKCON's early days.

Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Taste the Power and Sweetness of ISKCON's Early Days This recording will give you some idea of the sweetness and extraordinary power of ISKCON's early days. It is a recording of Srila Prabhupada's press interview when he arrived in London on 11 September 1969. He very powerfully told the reporters, "If you want to be happy, then you must take to this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. Otherwise the human race is doomed." Do yourself a favor by stopping whatever you are doing and listening to it right now. Click here now to hear the interview. Here's a transcript of the interview: Prabhupāda: ...but I'm not very much fond of reception. I want to know how people give reception to this movement. That is my concern. Devotees: Haribol! Reporter: How long will you be in England, sir? Prabhupāda: England, I think ...

Are you Krishnaloka dreamin'?

Image
Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Are You Krishnaloka Dreamin'? Today's Thought for the Day is a poem: Krishnaloka Dreamin' Things are lookin' bad I'm captured by dismay Misery's got me swallowed What more can I now say? To be back home with Krishna now Would drive my grief away Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day. Great sages through the age Have taught us not to roam. We do not have to wander In this place that's not our home. Revealing us the secret, Krishna's name's the way to pray. Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day. In that Krishnaloka No misery exists Through ecstatic loving dealings Everything subsists Krishna plays His splendid flute Puts all under His sway Krishnaloka dreamin' on such a dreary day. Things are lookin' bad I'm captured by dismay Misery's got me swallowed What more can I...

Another day--another adventure.

Image
Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Another Day, Another Adventure One of my favorite sayings is, "Another Day, Another Adventure." This saying, while only apparently applicable for materialists, is 100% applicable for those who have embraced the ecstatic pathway of Krishna consciousness. Krishna's devotee has declared war against maya. He is fighting a fierce battle on two different fronts. From within he is battling it out with lust, anger, madness, illusion, and envy and externally he is the warpath to firmly establish Krishna consciousness as the highest truth, the perfection of religion and the hearts and minds of everyone in this dark material world. Thus for the Lord's devotee there is nothing more ecstatic than to awaken to another super adventurous day of defeating maya within and without. In this connection Srila Prabhupada writes as foll...

Do you know who you really are?

Image
Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Do You Know Who Really Are? Don't be misled by materialistic propaganda into thinking that you are your body. You are a spiritual being qualitatively one with Krishna, the source of all existence. As He is eternal, full of knowledge, and full of bliss, you are also eternal, full of knowledge, and full of bliss. So do not cheat yourself by being misled by the untruths coming from the materialistic propaganda mongers. Hear from the self-realized souls and celebrate your eternal, all blissful, fully cognizant existence. Sankarshan Das Adhikari Be Who You Really Are Urgent! Is siksa guru better than diksa guru?

Image
Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Is the Siksha Guru More Important than the Diksha Guru? A bogus idea has been presented in ISKCON that the siksha guru, the instructing spiritual master, is more important than the diksha guru, the initiating spiritual master. The idea is that if you don't like the instructions you are receiving from your spiritual master you can choose someone else to take your instructions from on how to practice Krishna consciousness. I don't what is the motive of someone who would preach such things which are against Srila Prabhupada's teachings. Such preaching is very dangerous because it can cause great confusion and turmoil in ISKCON. Here is what Srila Prabhupada has told us in this connection: "Then so śikṣā and dīkṣā-guru... A śikṣā-guru who instructs against the instruction of spiritual master.., he is not a śikṣā-guru. H...

The acarya is both strict and lenient.

Image
Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." The Acharya is Both Strict and Lenient Srila Prabhupada has written in the Caitanya Caritmrita, Adi Lila, Chapter 7, Text 55 purport: "An ācārya, or great personality of the Vaiṣṇava school, is very strict in his principles, but although he is as hard as a thunderbolt, sometimes he is as soft as a rose. Thus actually he is independent. He follows all the rules and regulations strictly, but sometimes he slackens this policy." But this does mean that the disciple makes a condition that he will only surrender to the spiritual master if the spiritual master is lenient. The disciple takes the thunderbolt and the rose treatment as equal mercy and sometimes even prefers the thunderbolt over the rose. May all the fallen souls be delivered.

Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." May All the Fallen Souls Be Delivered In his purport to Sri Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila, Chapter 8, Text 246 Srila Prabhupada has written: In the Itihāsa-samuccaya, Nārada tells Puṇḍarīka: janmāntara-sahasreṣu yasya syād buddhir īdṛśī dāso ’haṁ vāsudevasya sarvāl lokān samuddharet ”After many, many births, when a person realizes that he is the eternal servant of Vāsudeva, he can deliver all the worlds.” Srila Prabhupada has also translated "sarvāl lokān samuddharet" as "can deliver all the fallen souls in material existence." I find this most inspiring. It is something to truly aspire for, to become so pure and perfect in devotional service that one becomes empowered to deliver all the fallen souls in the material existence back to their original home in the spiritual world. The simple and most powerful medicine for clearing away all of your mental garbage is the Hare Krishna mahamantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare Hare Rama, Hare Rama Rama Rama, Hare Hare So chant it as often as you can and as much as you can and you will experience the super ecstatic awakening of your actual, factual self. Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." They Will All Vanish into Oblivion What is the future of all the big, big famous, powerful, filthy rich materialists who are grossly misleading today's unfortunate animalistic human society? They will all vanish into oblivion. US President today, stool-eating pig tomorrow. So instead of following these fools and rascals who are taking the human society into a ditch we should follow the great sages who have throughout the ages taught us the science of how to escape the clutches of birth, death, old age, and disease. Reality has become like a horror movie

Image
Thought For the Day The Ultimate Self Realization Course "Godhead is light. Nescience is darkness. Where there is Godhead there is no nescience." Reality Has Become Like a Horror Movie On 13 November as I write this, I am presently suffering from a very bad case of bronchitis. I am coughing, coughing, coughing with very little mucus coming out. The polluted air that I have no choice but to breathe here in Mumbai, India is not helping me. In fact, it is making things worse. The air in Delhi was horrible, and it also extremely bad here in Mumbai. By the time you read this I will in Trivandram where the air is going to be almost as bad. Even in Vrindavan the air is horribly polluted. How much the human society has degraded into sinfulness that the water is so filthy and air is so dangerously polluted. And we are so crazy that we think that because of our motorcars, airplanes, internet, and air conditioning that we have made great advancement from the old days when we used a hor...
