Suffering is the Pastime of Fools

The material body by its very nature is always meant to be in a suffering situation. Thus anyone who misidentifies with their material body must necessarily be forced to suffer in so many ways. Those who are blessed by the mercy of Guru and Krishna with the non-material, transcendental conception of the self as a pure spiritual being qualitatively one with the Supreme Personality of Godhead are liberated from all the sufferings of this material existence even though their bodies are still experiencing them. One can achieve this unlimited good fortune by taking shelter of the bona fide spiritual master and of those Vaisnavas who are strictly following the regulative principles of devotional service.

Answer: Instructor and Initiator

From: ISKCON Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Priti,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The siksa (instructing) guru purely presents the same teachings that are heard from the diksha (initiating) guru but does not give initiation. If he presents something different Srila Prabhupada says that he is a demon.

"A śikṣā-guru who instructs against the instruction of spiritual master, he is not a śikṣā guru. He is a demon. Śikṣā-guru, dīkṣā-guru means... Sometimes a dīkṣā-guru is not present always. Therefore one can take learning, instruction, from an advanced devotee. That is called the śikṣā-guru. Śikṣā-guru does not mean he is speaking something against the teachings of the dīkṣā-guru. He is not a śikṣā-guru. He is a rascal."

from a lecture on Bhagavad-gītā 17.1-3 — given by Srila Prabhupada in Honolulu,Hawaii on July 4, 1974

I hope this meets you in the best of health.

Your ever well-wisher,
