The Perfection of Spirituality

Nowadays many people are into spirituality but they don't want to be a part of any particular religion. They want to perfect themselves spirituality without being caught up in some religious sect. The Krishna consciousness movement offers them exactly what they seek. We accept that one can become perfect by chanting any of God's names. If lives a pure life free of sinful activities and regularly chants the holy names of God, he will become in due course of time spiritually perfect. It does not matter whether he chants Krishna, Allah, Rama, Jehovah, or Christ. We teach that through chanting any name of God one can become spiritually perfect. Therefore, we can understand that rather than being a particular religion, Krishna consciousness is the perfection of spirituality.

Question: Why Some Say ISKCON is Not Hindu?

Bhagavad Gita and Lord Krishna are foundation pillars of Hindu Dharma. Lord Krishna says in Gita 4.7 and 4.8 that He appears in every age to protect Dharma. Then why do some people say that ISKCON is not a Hindu organization when it preaches Gita?

Answer: They Are Correct

My dear Vaisnava Charana Prabhu,
Please accept my obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

“Hindu” is word that was coined by the Muslims. It is not found anywhere in the Vedic scriptures. The actual term is “Vedic religion,” the religious system based on the Vedic scriptures. So we agree with them that we are not Hindus. Personally I was born and raised as a Christian in the USA. When I joined this movement in 1971 and got initiated by Srila Prabhupada I never thought that I was becoming a Hindu. I understood that by fully surrendering to Lord Krishna I was achieving the perfection of religion, transcendental to all designations of Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jew, Sikh, Jain, etc and simultaneously the perfection of all religious designations.

Hoping this meets you well,

Your servant,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
