Unlimited Good Fortune of Worshipping Srila Prabhupada

On 28 March 2018 in at the Krishna Balarama temple in Sri Vrindavan Dhama, where the benefit of all devotional activities is magnified 1,000 times, I was blessed with the most auspicious of all opportunities. I was so unlimitedly fortunate that I was gifted with the greatest privilege of being able to offer the arati to my beloved spiritual master during the guru puja ceremony. Here is the translation of the song that we sing when worshipping Srila Prabhupada:

The lotus feet of our spiritual master are the only way by which we can attain pure devotional service. I bow to his lotus feet with great awe and reverence. By his grace one can cross the ocean of material suffering and obtain the mercy of Krsna.

My only wish is to have my consciousness purified by the words emanating from his lotus mouth. Attachment to his lotus feet is the perfection that fulfills all desires.

He opens my darkened eyes and fills my heart with transcendental knowledge. He is my Lord birth after birth. From him ecstatic prema emanates; by him ignorance is destroyed. The Vedic scriptures sing of his character.

Our spiritual master is the ocean of mercy, the friend of the poor, and the lord and master of the devotees. O master! Be merciful unto me. Give me the shade of your lotus feet. Your fame is spread all over the three worlds.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Question: Is Initiation a Karmic Contract?

Can initiation be understood as a karmic contract between the guru and the devotee?

Karl

Answer: Initiation Is An Akarmic Contract

Initiation is not a karmic contract. It is an an akarmic contract. "Karmic" refers to something that binds you tightly in the laws of action and reaction within the material nature. And "akarmic" refers to that which is outside of the laws of material nature or which liberates one from the laws of action and reaction within the material nature. So when one gets initiated and seriously follows his initiation vows he becomes liberated from all of the karma he has accrued over millions and billions of lifetimes. He can then regain his original eternal spiritual identity within the pastimes of Lord Krishna in the para-vyoma, that most wondrous spiritual sky.
